Tashi Rinpoche

Yongzin Ponlop Tashi Rinpoche was born in Sakya, Tibet in 1958. With the guidance of duo Sakya Phodrangs, Rinpoche completed many major retreats. In 1978, Rinpoche was appointed as a teacher in Sakya Monastery. In 1987, Rinpoche was appointed as the private tutor, responsible for teaching H.H. Dungsey Ratna Vajra Rinpoche on ritual practices. Consequently, Rinpoche was conferred the venerable title “Yongzin Ponlop”, (“Yongzin” means tutor of a royal family member, while “Ponlop” means senior Professor).

Rinpoche was then appointed by H.H. the Jigdal Dagchen Sakya as a Representative in Taiwan to give initiations and empowerments for the well-being of all sentient beings. A formal enthronement ceremony was also held to officially canonize Rinpoche as “Yongzin Ponlop Tashi Rinpoche”.  Rinpoche continues to fulfil his religious duties throughout the world with his teachings.

Rinpoche is currently building a monastery in Sikkim, India. H.H. the 41st Sakya Trizin Ghongma Rinpoche has assigned a name, “Sakya Theksum Tashi Ling“ for the designated monastery.  Many respectable Rinpoches have joined-hands collectively in rendering support to Rinpoche to fulfil his virtuous mission. The monastery is currently under construction.
