Second Tibetan Buddhism panel discussion: The second Tibetan Buddhism discussion was actually held in Taipei, Taiwan on Friday, 16th March 2012 to discuss how to promote Tibetan Buddhism organized by Taiwan-international Tibetan Buddhist Research Association. Geshe and Tulku from Gelug tradition like Geshe Jamphel Choezin and Geshe choekyi Wangpo of Taiwan-Tibetan representative and Aka Tulku and others, Khenpo and Lama and Tulku from Kagyu tradition like Khenpo Karten and Khenpo ‘phags skyabs of Sherabling monastery and others, Khenpo and Tulku from Nyingma tradition like Serta Khenpo Choeying and Karma Dondub, Khenpo Samdub and Lobpon Sonam Phuntsog and others of Dzongsar Institute representing Sakya tradition, Tulku Tashi Gyatso and others representing Jonang tradition, nearly thirty Khenpos and Tulkus from five Tibetan Buddhist sects on top of them five Khenpos and Tulkus who are the backbone of the Research Association participated to discuss on the following two topics. Clear away doubts of Tibetan Buddhism: how to explain clearly about arising doubts concerning Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and its extraordinary practices and information regarding its background. • Cooperative activities of Taiwan-Tibetan Buddhism: The different Tibetan Buddhist traditions based in Taiwan benefit Tibetan Buddhism as well as Taiwanese public and also help in harmony among all Tibetan Buddhist traditions and they exchanged different views on how to arrive on a decision for a concrete implementation of the topics.
Furthermore, the participants mostly opined on how to bring harmony among the different traditions, emphasize more on decent behaviors in accordance with the place and time, give better comprehension of Tibetan Buddhist teachings through perfect introduction to Tibetan Buddhism to Taiwanese general public, perform social services to Taiwanese public with Dharma teachings and also show good examples of views and conducts to the public as well as listen and understand well about what others say about Tibetan Buddhism. They also discussed how to answer some special points with setting examples. Finally, the host distributed four main proposals based on the former two topics on which all participants debated well within stipulated time. According to the second point from the four proposals, a committee comprising of all five Tibetan Buddhist sects was set up to translate into Tibetan language to answer those who oppose Tibetan Buddhism. And in the fourth point, all participants drafted an application with signatures about the real situation in which the present Tibetan Buddhism has been criticized by some ones the application of which was decided to submit to all Tibetan high lamas, the three seats (monasteries) and bshad sgra (institutes). Finally, this meeting was successfully concluded with a speech about future plan of the Research Association and a ‘vote of thanks’ by Khenpo Choenyi Dontog, host of the meeting.
